Where is the spring

It is a hydrological basin in its natural state dug into the stone of a valley. In Cavascura it is possible to relive the very ancient times because it still retains its caves, its small waterfall, its boiling springs that continue to come down from the mountain at a very high temperature. It is located about 300 meters from the Maronti beach and is accessed by following a stream of hot water that opens onto a small bed between the tuffaceous walls of the hill.

How to reach the spring

To reach the spring you have to venture into a gorge that opens behind the Maronti beach, walking alongside a stream of water that flows along the path, and which is there on purpose to show the way.
Interesting and picturesque is the play of colors that can be observed as you enter: at the beginning you can see a small corridor with high tuff walls with small cells carved into the rock. It is a real SPA, an open-air thermal room with gorse, thick bushes, chestnut trees and oaks.
Down the valley, where the tufaceous wall ends, the thermal spring gurgles and exhales its beneficial vapors. In the half-light of the caverns, guests bathe in contact with nature not mediated by human intervention, while from the mountain a waterfall offers a hot shower and a natural sauna dug into the tuff caves. .

What its water looks like

The water is to be classified among the radioactive-hyperthermal (83°), Salso-Bromine-Iodic-Bicarbonate-Alkaline. Activity of hydrogen ions (ph) = 7.58 The analyzes carried out on the waters of Cavascura have established that they are particularly curative in chronic rheumatic diseases, affections of the bronchi, ear, nose and throat, but also after-effects of fractures, orthopedic interventions. Excellent results are also found in eudermic treatments (skin of the face), in peripheral venous and arterial vascular diseases, in some forms of eczematous dermatitis. Great results were also obtained in the past in diseases of the female system.

What the spring looks like

Cavascura is a unique geosite, the result of a millenary process of erosion of the rocks due to the joint action of the wind and rainwater. In ancient times the spring was called Aratro, perhaps because it had the virtue of straightening and lifting people with rheumatism, sciatic and fracture problems. Cavascura is a unique geosite, the result of a millenary process of erosion of the rocks due to the joint action of the wind and rainwater. Cavascura is a hydrological basin in its natural state dug into the stone of a valley that preserves its caves, a small waterfall, and the springs that flow at a very high temperature. It is a virtually unknown place, consisting of six small rooms carved into the rock, in each of which there is a stone basin with a headrest. In them you take a thermal bath, which can be followed by a shower of cold water, very invigorating. These hot waters derive from the spring of the Putrelle, formerly known as the source of the Plow, as the temperature of the vapors was so high as to straighten the wood, even to the point of giving it the shape, in fact, of a plow. Cavascura water, considered "very prodigious", is recommended against stones, obstructions of the liver and spleen, but also for asthma, gout and neglected catarrh. It is used as a drink, but also for baths, showers and lotions.
